SABA WAHID DUFFY’S BIO

Chef Saba Wahid Duffy has been working in the culinary industry for many years. Her career began in catering when she lived in NYC and has evolved incredibly since then. While working and living in New York, Saba also attended the French Culinary Institute (now known as ICC) and completed a management program, which kicked off her professional culinary career. Saba even spent some time abroad working in Dubai as a TV host and culinary media personality building her brand and network internationally. Saba co-hosted a daily live lifestyle TV show which included a weekly cooking segment, plus a weekly recipe feature in a local magazine, plus she hosted culinary events all over the UAE. Check out Saba’s website for more on her TV career and time abroad (sabawahid.com). Saba is a well known culinary educator, chef demonstrator, recipe writer, and food content creator. Her accolades in the industry are impressive with appearances on local TV plus features in magazine articles, and blogs. Saba also works with various brands on appliance education and is a well known industry expert.
During the summer of 2020 Saba was cast for a special episode of Chopped with Martha Stewart on Food Network (Chopped Martha’s Rules). Nervous and excited about the opportunity, Saba was up against some of the best culinary talent in the country. Out of 16 competitors, Saba prevailed and won the grand prize of $50k plus the elite title of Chopped Grand Champion. Saba invested the winnings into her first small business, a food truck, Kush By Saba, which she runs with her sister Sara Wahid in Boston, MA. They serve up Modern Mediterranean fare with global influences, inspired by their South Asian heritage. Some of the mouth watering dishes include the curried chickpea falafel with whipped feta, harissa brown sugar braised beef with golden pearled couscous, plus the spicy mac and cheese with lamb merguez crumble to name a few.
Going into their second year of operation, Chef Saba would like to grow the concept into a brick and mortar restaurant someday and potentially expand to multiple locations. Chef Saba Wahid Duffy is also a culinary instructor at New England Culinary Arts Training (NECAT), Boston. A non-profit tuition free organization that provides culinary skills to adults who’ve faced life challenges. Upon completion of the program, the students also receive assistance with job placement in the workforce, giving them an opportunity to improve their lives. Chef Saba’s commitment to education and serving delicious scratch made food from the Food Truck is a passion.

Most recently Chef Saba Wahid Duffy participated in Food Network’s first International Cooking Competition set in Tuscany, Ciao House (April 16 2023-June 4 2023)! This was an eight part series involving Tuscan centric challenges including wine pairings, truffle, local cheese, wild boar, and garden fresh produce. Chef Saba made it to the final two, and although she made near perfect plates of food, she lost by a hair to her Michelin trained competitor.

This is just the beginning of Chef Saba’s culinary journey with so much more to come. She is also working on her first cookbook, featuring her original Modern Mediterranean cuisine, and hoping to launch a brick and mortar restaurant in the next year. There may also be more media projects underway, stay in touch through all her social media channels!
