The Story Behind KUSH
What does KUSH mean?
We often get asked where the name KUSH comes from.
And yes, we know what many people think of first. 😉 While the name may be a great conversation starter, our KUSH has a much deeper meaning.
The Kush Mountains are located near Kalat in the western region of Pakistan, the homeland of our family. For my sister and me, the name is a small but meaningful nod to our roots—and, admittedly, it’s also just a pretty cool and memorable word.
We were both born and raised right here in Boston, Massachusetts, but we’ve always maintained a deep connection to our Pakistani heritage, especially when it comes to food, family, and hospitality.
That connection is reflected in the food we create at KUSH. Our menu isn’t meant to be traditionally or authentically Pakistani. Instead, we draw inspiration from the flavors, spices, and culinary traditions of our heritage and blend them with our love of Mediterranean cuisine and the many influences that have shaped us along the way.
The result is something uniquely our own: a modern Mediterranean experience with South Asian roots, global influences, and a distinctly Boston perspective.
That’s KUSH.
